The elementary schools that serve portions of the Houston Heights include Crockett, Field, Harvard, Love, and the Helms Community Learning Center. The middle schools of the district are Hamilton and Hogg. Houston Heights High School, Reagan and Waltrip are the high schools that serve portions of the Houston Heights. There is also a charter school, the Houston Heights Learning Academy.
Private schools in the Heights in Houston include the New School in the Heights, and the Houston Outdoor Learning Academy.
Heights Playground is located in the community's Donovan Park, which was designed, funded, and constructed by the people of the Heights in Houston.
The Heights in Houston hosts a variety of annual events including the Historic Houston Heights Home and Garden Tour, Heights Fun Run, Heights Bike & Skate Rally, and a Holiday Open House. There are hundreds of community volunteers who welcome thousands of visitors each year, gathering to celebrate the history and tradition of Houston Heights at the events.

The Houston Heights Association
The Houston Heights Association (HHA) is one organization in the town that seeks to encourage and promote the enhancement of the Heights in Houston community. They are a non-profit organization that has been around since 1973, proving to be the driving force behind Houston Heights real estate and neighborhood revitalization. The HHA seeks to address the scope of neighborhood needs from deed restrictions, community assistance, and crime reduction. It also seeks to beautify, revitalize, and preserve the community's history.
Along with the HHA, the City of Houston, Planning and Development Department has made major progress toward preserving Houston's history. Preservation of the Heights in Houston's valuable historic resources provides visible reminders of the community's culture and heritage, while strengthening civic pride and enhancing economic prosperity.
